Five Reasons Why I Would (and Wouldn’t) Vote for Donald Trump

http://www.theblaze.com/contributions/five-reasons-why-i-would-and-wouldnt-vote-for-donald-trump/

It’s fascinating to me that people still wonder why Donald Trump is so popular. It doesn’t seem to matter what he says or how he says it people just keep flocking to him. The media may not like him, his fellow candidates may cringe every time he opens his mouth and the Republican Party may despise him, but a lot of us hope he keeps doing what he’s doing. For those who just can’t understand his attraction, let me tell you why I would vote for Donald Trump.

1. Donald Trump Is Beholden to No One
’ve been on K Street in Washington, D.C. and I’ve seen how the beltway works. Big money companies buy and rent real estate right up close to the capital, hiring full-time lobbyists to wine and dine members of Congress. They spend their day schmoozing with staffers creating a network of bribery and blackmail Americans seethe at and are fed up with.

Donald Trump is already rock star. He doesn’t need any special treatment; he already commands it. He doesn’t need their money; he already has it. That is why the beltway rejects him and the Republican Party throws him to the wolves every chance they get.
He can’t be bought. He says what he thinks, calls it like it is, and that upsets the status quo. But status quo is exactly what so many voters like me want to see change. So when he challenges the status quo, we like it, love it, and want more of it.
2. Donald Trump Is An “Outsider”Donald Trump has not served in political office, which makes him a direct threat to the establishment. He stands up to party leadership and calls them out. It is everything average American citizens wish they could do. He’s the megaphone speaking what so many of us feel, and it’s really nice to have a voice and be heard for a change. As for the establishment, we’ve been ready to send that group sailing for some time. Donald Trump just makes it seem like a possibility.

3. Donald Trump Brings Energy to The Race

He alone is holding his fellow candidates feet to the fire causing them to talk about issues they wouldn’t talk about otherwise. Immigration, for instance, wasn’t even on the radar until he put it on the radar and forced the other candidates to talk about it.
4. Donald Trump’s Immigration PolicyI love Donald Trump’s immigration policy. It is about time we have someone who will call a spade a spade. Illegal immigration is killing our country, hurting families and our convoluted immigration system makes it extremely difficult for legal immigrants to legally come to our country.
5. Donald Trump Takes on The MediaI love how Donald Trump puts the media in their place. That is worth his weight in gold. I am so fed up with the media’s holier than thou attitude, shoving their agenda down my throat and flooding the airways with useless nonsense. Donald Trump stands toe-to-toe with these self-proclaimed media Gods and puts them in their place regardless of what media outlet they are with. That was the thing I enjoyed most about Donald Rumsfeld. I sure miss those days. But this Donald is certainly holding his own and it is really refreshing to see the media squirm for a change. That alone is worth the vote.
These are the reasons Donald Trump’s poll numbers are so high. He resonates with ordinary, average Americans who are fed up with business as usual. They are the reasons I would vote for Donald Trump, and, except for reason five (because that’s just too fun to watch), they are also the reasons why I won’t vote for him.
1. We Already Have a President Like Donald TrumpIt is true he is beholden to no one. He says what he thinks and does what he wants. But, we already have someone like that in the White House. Do we really want that again? It is really nice to be your own man and not care what anyone thinks but do we really want someone in the White House who doesn’t care what the people of American think—again?
2. Donald Trump is Not a StatesmanIt is true that he has not held political office but can you really be in a business like his and not be political to some degree? Companies, universities, even churches deal with some measure of politics. I am looking for a statesman to lead this country not a politician to run it further into the ground, and from what I have seen, Donald Trump makes a very good politician and runs a great campaign, but I don’t see a statesman.
3. Which Donald Trump Will We Get As President? It is true that Donald Trump has a great position on immigration but I am far from convinced that he means what he says to the point that he will actually do anything about if he’s elected. Mr. Trump has done a lot of major opinion changing on key issues in a very short period of time so the question is which Donald do we believe? His consistent aggressive tone and offensive comments seem to be the only thing we can really count on. Is that really what we want to base our vote on? Is that really who we want representing America? And do we really want our president shouting at world leaders the way he shouts at the establishment? We like Donald Trump the campaigner but we would we like Donald Trump the president?
4. We Can’t Ignore Donald Trump’s Offensive StatementsWe like so many of the things Donald Trump says that we ignore all the things he says we find offensive. What kind of message is that sending? President Barack Obama told us exactly what he was going to do if we elected him but we ignored all the transforming America stuff because we liked the hope and change thing. Donald Trump is showing us who he is. Carly Fiorina said it best when CNN’s Jack Tapper cornered her in the last presidential debate about someone with Trump’s temperament having his finger on the nuclear button.
Carly’s very classy response is something we should all really consider. “That’s not for me to answer,” she said. “That’s for the voters of this country to answer.”
If we want business as usual then just vote another politician to the White House. But if you want something different, if you really want to shake things up, try a statesman. They are few but they are out there. And if you take a good look at those running for president, you just may find a few in the barrage of politicians.

What Democracy Means to Me

10/5/2015

Democracy seems to be the new buzz word in the world today, but do the countries currently mulling around the idea of democracy really understand what it means? Do Americans even understand what it means?

In this revival of liberty we are experiencing in our country today, I think these are questions every American should be asking themselves.

I think Benjamin Franklin defined democracy best when he said, “Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote.”
Picture
Our Founding Fathers realized the oppression of a Monarchy, but they were also aware of the failings of a Democracy. And while the world looks to America as a symbol of democracy, it is the combination of self-governance and representative leadership that is the secret to America’s success.

America is not a democracy, it is a Democratic Republic—the perfect combination to promote freedom and protect individual liberties.
If we are to have a discussion about what Democracy means, we must first understand what it is and what it is not. The American experiment is much more than a form of government, it is an ideal. It is the belief that man can, in fact, govern himself and if he will not, then the experiment fails. But our Founders fervently believed if ever there were a people who could do it, it would be us.
Many people are blaming the predicament our country is in on the president, his administration, Congress, and the government in general, but in reality, those are all just symptoms of the problem.

The real problem is that Americans are not acting American—we are not embracing our divine heritage of liberty, we don’t know our magnificent, providential history, and we are not fulfilling our civic responsibility. The harsh reality is, if we don’t like what’s going on in our nation today, we only have ourselves to blame.

We are a government of the people and by the people not just for the people.

If we the people are not “by the people,” if we are not willing to do our civic duty and watch over government then corruption will take root and consume our nation until we the people are strangled right out of existence.

If we the people are not willing to be “of the people” and run for elected office then there will be plenty of self-serving, power-hungry individuals who will.
If we are not fostering a love of liberty in our own homes and our own hearts then we will never understand and embrace the principles of liberty our nation was founded on.

If we are not willing to sacrifice our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor to preserve liberty and sustain the Constitution then freedom in America will cease to exist.

We are the reason we are in the state we are in. And we are the only ones who can pull us out of it.
Picture
It is true, there have been many forces working against us feverishly trying to destroy this last bastion of hope for the world; but in the end, we are the keepers of the flame, not the schools, not Congress, not the media.

If our schools aren’t teaching our children about America’s history and heritage, then we need to be. If the media is not going to present truth and facts, then we need to. It is not the government’s job to raise and teach our children it is ours. We cannot count on others to do our job for us and we cannot legislate our rights and responsibilities away and expect liberty to simply sustain itself in the name of democracy.

If our children are patriots it is because we raised patriots in our homes. If our children know and understand the Constitution it is because we taught them. If our children embrace freedom and love their country, it is because we instilled that love in them through our own examples.

Democracy is the embodiment of self-reliance, self-governance and self-sacrifice; which, simply stated, means the American experiment can only succeed when we are able to govern ourselves in righteousness. As Alexis de Tocqueville so aptly stated, “America is great because she is good, and if America ever ceases to be good, she will cease to be great.”

It is not our government, our wealth, or our rich soil that ensures our democracy, it is our goodness. And if American’s cease to be good, the American experiment will have run its course.

But goodness has not ceased in America. It is here, rising up in homes all across America.

The spirit of America is alive; it just needs to be awakened.
And that should be our personal quest—to wake up the American people and infuse the light of liberty in their very souls.

Every American we convert to Liberty and the Constitution is one American closer to securing a free nation. It is very probable that the day is not that far off when our economy will collapse and our government will crumble—but America never will, because America isn’t a president or a Congress, it is us!

It is We the People. And We the People will rise from the ashes waiving the standard of liberty to the world. Every American who understands and internalizes the principles of liberty will rise up, holding the Constitution firmly in their grip and lead the people of this nation to freedom.

What does Democracy mean to me? It means hope. It means believing in something greater than yourself. It means personal responsibility. And if we don’t take that responsibility seriously, instead of explaining to our children what democracy is, we will have to explain what happened to it.
