Hilary Rosen may have stepped on a hornets nest when she declared that Ann Romney, a self-proclaimed homemaker, didn’t work a day in her life, but I for one am glad she opened her mouth. While this personal attack was obviously made for political gain, it put a giant spotlight on the anti-woman agenda feminists have been pushing through our culture for four decades.
There was a time when home and family were the center of society and mothers were the greatest influence in their children’s lives. Patriotism, virtue, faith, self-sufficiency, hard work were all values taught and nurtured in the home. Children were cherished, mothers were honored, and homemaking was held in the highest regard – not just in the family but society in general. And then, we were liberated! And why not? I mean, what rewards are there in washing dishes and cleaning toilets, right?
A mass exodus ensued as women left their homes to pursue careers, and our world completely changed. Family became secondary to career out of necessity. We were thrust into a man’s world where we were expected to perform like men. We had to put in long hours and work hard for promotions, bonuses and raises because the men were, and we had to compete. We were climbing a tall ladder in the name of liberation, and there was no time for family on the rungs. Day cares opened up across the country, schools evolved into a convenient babysitter, and latchkey became a common adjective for children. Almost overnight we were living in a world where everyone was caring for our children except us.
It is not necessary to share the myriad of heartbreaking stories of the families that suffered, the marriages that ended, or all the women who began working out of choice and ended up working out of necessity as they struggled to raise children in single-parent homes. We see the evidence all around us. The family that was once the center and focus of society has been replaced by the government that has been, in large measure, taking care of our children for the last 40 years.
Our nation is on perilous ground. Families are under attack. Our freedoms are being eroded. Our schools no longer raise informed citizens. The media have evolved from an information source to a Hollywood sideshow. Values have been distorted, and the Constitution has been misinterpreted, manipulated – even ignored. Statesmen have been replaced with politicians. Accountability no longer exists. Religion is ridiculed and God is unconstitutional.
If I were an enemy of freedom and I wanted to conquer a nation, this is exactly how I would do it. Home is the center of society, and women are the center of the home. The results are exponential. You remove the influence of good women and you can take down an entire nation – one home and one family at a time. Ms. Rosen is a smart woman. She knows this.
The greatest political weapon the Destroyers of Liberty have in their arsenal is women; but women are also their greatest threat. If they can convince us that Mitt Romney, a political party, or an organization hates women, they can deceive thousands, even millions of women into believing it. That is why the Destroyers of Liberty create ridiculous lies about denying birth control; spend millions of dollars paying people to come up with catch phrases like “women’s rights” to justify taking life; and why they have worked feverishly for four decades to convince women that they need a title and career to be of value.
The truth is, the Destroyers of Liberty are distinctly aware of the magnitude of our influence. They are firm believers in the “hand that rocks the cradle” cliché, and they know the future of America is in our hands. The future leaders, teachers, media and voters are in our homes today. The Destroyers of Liberty can’t take over a country and destroy our freedom if we are teaching our children to “Adore God, reverence and cherish your parents, love your neighbor as yourself and your country more than yourself.” But those are the things Thomas Jefferson taught his children. Those are his words.
Ms. Rosen’s comments weren’t about “women’s issues” but they were all about politics. I don’t need a job and a title to know that this is simply another attempt to divide us as a people and secure an agenda women don’t want. Women’s issues are American issues!
We are concerned for the moral welfare of our families and our nation. We are deeply concerned for our children’s future. We care about whether or not we can we pay the rent, put gas in our car, if our husband will have a job tomorrow, or if we will have to get a job to help support our family. We know what kind of world we want our children to live in, and what feminists like Ms. Rosen are shoving down our throats just isn’t it.
We are the women of America, and we play a vital role in the preservation of our nation. We have been called, Kool-Aid moms, housewives, soccer moms and security moms. Retailers pursue us, politicians need us, and America will not survive without us. We are the keepers of the past and the mothers of the future. The greatest act of patriotism we can ever perform will be within the walls of our own home.
We don’t need a title to prove how important we are. We already have the greatest title ever created. And while our mothers may have been deceived by the feminist lie, the Destroyers of Liberty better watch out, because this generation of mothers is coming home!
